About the Comox Valley, Yours to Discover.........

Nestled between the busy ports of its southern neighbours and the industrious sawmills further north, the idyllic Comox Valley is more than a location - it's a lifestyle. Perched on the eastern edge of Vancouver Island, where glacier-fed salmon streams tumble down from snow-capped mountains and where lush forests of cedar, fir and hemlock nudge up against the salty seashore, this is where dreams meet reality.

The possibilities of outdoor adventure and recreation abound in this all-season wonderland. While skiers and snowboarders shred the powder up at Mount Washington, other outdoor enthusiasts continue to enjoy their pursuits down below in the Comox Valley all winter long. A vast network of trails cut into the rainforest offers amazing mountain biking for all levels in any season, while the forest canopies of Nymph Falls and Seal Bay Regional Parks shelter hikers as they explore some of the most scenic trails in the region. For those who would rather be out on the water, the gentle ripples of Baynes Sound are just waiting to be cut by the paddle of a relaxed afternoon kayaker. If it's tee time you're after, the Comox Valley has seven golf courses, six of which are open year-round, and several other world-class Vancouver Island courses are less than an hour away. As any local could assure you, and any visitor to the area will discover, in the Comox Valley, adventure doesn't take the winter off!

Although the Comox Valley is your gateway to the rugged wilderness of Vancouver Island, a remote outpost it certainly is not! The Valley is serviced by daily direct flights from Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver via the Comox Valley International Airport (YQQ). Car and passenger ferries cross the Strait of Georgia from BC's Lower Mainland several times a day, landing on the island just south of the Comox Valley, and visitors from Victoria reach the valley in just two-and-a-half hours by car along the inland island highway. Throw the daily ferries direct to Comox from the Sunshine Coast into the mix and you've got a modern travel hub on the doorstep of some of the most spectacular island and alpine wilderness anywhere on the planet!

There are few other places on earth where you can be skiing knee-deep in powder in the morning, shooting a round of golf with your friends in the afternoon and enjoying a three-course dinner overlooking the ocean that same evening. The people of the Comox Valley have made a choice, whether conscious or not, to value a healthy lifestyle over the rat race, and that's part of what makes the Valley such an amazing place to be."
Marty Douglas, President of Comox Valley Tourism
